Kaylan Winter Berry was always driven by a passion for graphic design. In 2002, after graduating from the Design & Digital Media program at Grant MacEwan College, his passion became his profession when he founded Winter Studios.

Kaylan eked out a living through corporate branding and logo development but his vision for Winter Studios was far bigger. To grow the company, he began studying urban apparel in the form of silk screening and embroidery. He designed and produced his inaugural line locally. It was a great success as the word on the street spread quickly about his hip, new line.

It was clear to Kaylan this was not just another creative outlet but a means for a local designer to speak his mind and spread his word.

Spawned by a tremendous pride for his neighborhood, his city and the local design community, the Millwoods Hero line of clothes was born. Millwoods Hero - an alter ego of sorts...an idea that transformed into an entire clothing line overnight. Millwoods Hero promotes community pride and awareness, removing this community's stigma of violence and turning it on its head.

"Mill Woods has always been falsely branded with an extremely negative overtone," Kaylan said. "It's about community - plain and simple. Local designer, local apparel, positive message."

Kaylan has created a local urban apparel niche that combines classic style with high quality product. It appeals to the masses. It appeals to community pride. It is Millwoods Hero.
